This paper reviews evidence and offers original estimates showing how policies improving smallholder market access and productivity can turn livestock markets into vehicles for pro-poor growth.

    ADBI, Asia, 2002-3

This study analyzes global supply networks in East Asia, where foreign direct investment distributes production across an international matrix of intermediate producers. Using a multi-country Social Accounting Matrix for multiplier decomposition analysis, it finds that 20 to 70 percent of income from bilateral trade actually arises from complex multilateral chains, showing that conventional views understate the gains from a more liberal trading environment.
